Hello! Great to see you!

We, Rachael Emerson and Maree Waterson, are the proud owners of Belamekah Australian Cobberdogs. Our Mission is to breed for excellence in Health, Temperament, Intelligence and Hypo-Allergenic qualities.

We are not only business partners but also best friends and dedicated mothers to a tribe of children from diverse backgrounds. Our children include biological, internationally adopted, and local foster kids, many of whom have experienced trauma. Our extensive experience in dealing with their special needs, both visible and invisible, has led us on a remarkable journey together.

In 2015, my daughter Emily (Maree) passed away. In 2016, we established Emily’s Hope (visit emilyshope.com.au), an organisation dedicated to creating an inclusive world for people with special needs in honour of Emily. Throughout our lives we have shared our homes with various breeds of dogs, including Labradors, Huskies, Aussie Bulldogs, Beagles, and more.

We were initially drawn to the Australian Cobberdog breed because we were seeking a dog that would suit the diverse needs of our families. With 12 out of our combined 17 children having special needs, we needed a dog that could sit quietly with our more fragile children and yet keep up with the energy of our kids with Autism and ADHD. We also learned about the Cobberdog’s ability to recognise an impending seizure, which was an added bonus. It was a tall order, but our foundation dogs have exceeded all expectations!

Why Choose Us

Our dogs are our passion!

Our dogs live and work with us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They are born and raised in our homes. Our Cobberdogs are incredibly intuitive and can adapt to the needs of each individual child. They are fast learners, non-aggressive, and have no prey drive, which makes them ideal for home environments with children and other pets.

Healthy Breed

We have a healthy breed that rarely shed. Aside from physically healthy they are also mentally strong. They are extremely intuitive with emotion and the need for comfort. They are always just a heartbeat away when someone is in need and are so dedicated and connected to family members that they stay by the person who needs them most.

Family Friendly

Our puppies are born into our unique families and are exposed to diversity from day one. As a result, they are well-socialised from an early age. By the time they reach four weeks old, their individual personalities begin to emerge, and we can see the potential for them to become companion dogs, therapy dogs, or assistant dogs.
